The Oximy sensor is a lightweight desktop application that monitors AI tool usage on enrolled devices. This guide covers installation for both macOS and Windows.
The sensor is open source. Review the code at github.com/oximyhq/sensor before deploying.

Which macOS version? Go to Apple menu → About This Mac. If you see “Apple M1/M2/M3/M4”, download Apple Silicon. If you see “Intel”, download Intel.

macOS Installation

Open the installer

Double-click the downloaded .dmg file to mount it.

Install the app

Drag the Oximy app icon to your Applications folder.

Launch Oximy

Open Oximy from your Applications folder or Spotlight. On first launch, macOS may show a security dialog — click Open to continue.

Grant permissions

Oximy requires two system permissions:
Required for detecting AI tool usage across applications.
  1. Click Open System Preferences when prompted
  2. Navigate to Security & Privacy → Privacy → Accessibility
  3. Enable the checkbox next to Oximy
  4. You may need to click the lock icon and enter your password
Required for monitoring AI API traffic.The system will prompt you to allow network access. Click Allow to continue.

Install the certificate

Click Install Certificate when prompted. You’ll need to enter your Mac password to authorize installation to the system keychain.
The certificate enables Oximy to inspect encrypted HTTPS traffic to AI services. It’s locally generated and unique to your device.

Enable the proxy

Click Enable Proxy to start monitoring. Oximy will configure your system network settings automatically.

Connect to your workspace

Enter the 6-digit enrollment code from your Oximy dashboard. The code expires after 5 minutes.

Where to find Oximy on macOS

After installation, Oximy runs in your menu bar (top-right corner of your screen). Click the icon to open the app.

Windows Installation

Run the installer

Double-click the downloaded .exe file. If Windows SmartScreen appears, click More info → Run anyway.

Complete the wizard

Follow the installation wizard prompts. Administrator approval may be required.

Launch Oximy

Oximy starts automatically after installation and appears in your system tray (bottom-right, near the clock).

Complete onboarding

The app shows a welcome walkthrough explaining what Oximy does and how your privacy is protected.

Install the certificate

Click Install in the Security Certificate section. A UAC prompt may appear — click Yes to allow installation.
The certificate is installed to your Windows certificate store, enabling Oximy to inspect encrypted traffic to AI services.

Enable the proxy

Click Enable in the Network Proxy section. Oximy configures your system proxy settings automatically.

Connect to your workspace

Enter the 6-digit enrollment code from your Oximy dashboard. The code expires after 10 minutes.

Where to find Oximy on Windows

After installation, Oximy runs in your system tray (bottom-right corner). Click the icon to open the app, or right-click for quick options.

  • Internet connection for enrollment and sync

Data Storage

All captured data is stored locally on the device:
~/.oximy/

Uninstalling

  1. Quit Oximy from the menu bar
  2. Move Oximy from Applications to Trash
  3. Delete the data folder: rm -rf ~/.oximy/
  4. Open Keychain Access, search for “Oximy CA”, and delete the certificate
