Response Types

Ask returns different visualization types based on your question:

List Card

Shows a ranked list of items with counts. Best for: “Who uses X the most?”, “Which tools are most popular?”

Stat Card

Displays a single metric prominently. Best for: “How many tools detected?”, “Total activities this week?”

Bar Chart

Horizontal bar visualization comparing values. Best for: “Activity by tool”, “Usage by device”

Donut Card

Percentage breakdown in a circular chart. Best for: “Coverage breakdown”, “Activity by category”

New Tools Card

Shows recently discovered AI tools. Best for: “New tools this week?”, “Recent discoveries?”

Text Card

Simple text response for complex or unsupported queries. Best for: Fallback when other visualizations don’t apply.

Working with Cards

Card Features

Each response card includes:
  • Timestamp — When the question was asked
  • Dismiss button — Click X to remove the card
  • Action buttons — Some cards have buttons to drill down into data

Card Persistence

Cards are saved locally and persist across sessions. Return to Ask to see your previous questions and answers.

Layout

  • With no cards: Input is centered with suggestions
  • With cards: Masonry grid layout with input at the bottom
  • Cards reflow responsively based on screen size

Tips for Better Results

Instead of “show activity”, try “show activity this week” or “activity in the last 30 days”.
Instead of “which chatbot is popular”, try “how much is ChatGPT used?” or “Claude vs ChatGPT usage”.
Break complex questions into simpler ones. Instead of “who uses ChatGPT most and what do they use it for”, ask them separately.
The suggested questions are tailored to your data and show what Ask can answer well.

Limitations

Ask works best with:
  • Questions about aggregated data (counts, rankings, percentages)
  • Time-based queries (this week, last month)
  • Comparisons between tools, users, or devices
Ask may not handle:
  • Very specific queries about individual events
  • Complex conditional logic
  • Questions requiring data Oximy doesn’t capture
If Ask can’t answer your question, it returns a text card explaining why or suggesting alternatives.
